I remember at the young age of about 10 years old, watching my mother get ready for work. I remember she wore a nice pair of pants with a blazer, paired with black pumps; her hair blowed out and she wore very minimal makeup. [If anyone knows my mother they know she does not do makeup.] I remember how sophiscated she looked, how classy, confident and powerful she radiated. I, too, felt her energy. I can tell she felt good about herself as she waltz around the house in her blazer. I really had no idea exactly what she did for a living but I knew that at that very moment, I wanted to grow up to be just like my mother. I wanted to wear a pair of pants and blazer the way my mother did, to be able to feel the confidence she felt the very first time I recall her wearing one. Because of my mother, blazers will always give me a sense of power. Professionalism. Confidence.
