Love Each Other At Home
Raise your hand if you remember as a kid each time you watched your parents hug or kiss you would make disgusted faces at them or even tell them to get a room? (raises hand up high) My parents always showed such affection in the presence of my brother and me. I always though it was just rather disgusting. But as I grew older, I noticed that watching my parents display such affection towards one another was actually for my own good.
I could not tell you one time where I witnessed my parents arguing. Never. Not once. And let me tell you, my dad was not easy to tolerate. He is very set in his ways and has no filter in his expression. Yet my mother is the opposite; quiet, timid and easy going. They balanced each other quiet nicely.
I believe that my parents constant love and affect is the reason why I was able to choose a life partner that holds these same qualities. Ariel and I are still premature in our marriage so we have been guilty of a little arguing in front of our girls; however, the affection we demonstrate to one another shows our children how much we love each other and how happy we are together.
I want to lead by examples. Keep in mind I am raising daughters. I want them to choose life partners that will take care of them, that will love them, the way their mommy and daddy loved each other. I want them to grow up stable and secure in our home, and to know that they are free to be kids because mommy and daddy can take care of each other. So in the heat of an argument or if things just are not going right with your spouse, maybe its one of those days, or maybe he or she really did something to upset you, when in the home, love each other anyway, especially in front of the children. Leave the bickering and fighting outside or in your bedroom where your little ones cannot see or hear anything.
Just as you are affectionate with your spouse, be affectionate with your little ones as well. And if you have multiple children, show affection to each child equally so that there is no room for jealousy. It starts in the home.
So love each other at home, regardless.
