Quick Morning Routine for a Happier Day
As busy moms, we have TONS on our plate. I know most of us are not big morning persons. And even after having babies, we still dread getting our butts out of bed. But I think having a little morning routine helps pave the way for a happier day. I personally am no morning person to say the least. I cannot function without my coffee and I am not awake until about 10am. I have gotten better though since my little ones but I still battle every morning.
I put together this quick routine that has actually helped me have better days and not feel overwhelmed when tackling my day or getting that quick list of to-do list done!
Below is my daily morning routine that I have found to be quick and helpful at getting through my busy days as a career woman and mother to my little ones.
GET OUT OF BED
This is probably my biggest struggle! I cannot get my butt out of bed to save the life of me, especially in this cold. My bed just feels so warm and cozy. Its hard to let go.
STAY OFF SOCIAL MEDIA
I find that not logging into my social media pages helps because I am not seeing things that can dictate my mood. There are times where we see things on social media that we may not want to and it instantly puts us in a funk. So stay away from social media until your done with your morning routine.
GET A NICE WORK OUT IN/A QUICK MORNING STRETCH
Working out in the AM before my shift begins in merely impossible for me at this time. My hubby is out the house by 5AM which leaves me in charge of getting the girls ready and dropped off by 8AM to clock into work. There is no way I can squeeze in a workout before work starts at 8AM. Instead, I opted into a nice quick morning stretch. It does not give you the same energy as the gym but in essence still helps you feel more alert.
MAKE YOUR BED
I have found that making my bed in the morning helps me feel more put together and prepared to tackle my busy day. When I come home from a long day of work and see my bed nicely put together definitely helps me feel accomplished an productive. It feels especially great to curl into that nicely made bed at night.
HAVE A GOOD BREAKFAST
I have been guilty of completely skipping breakfast all together. But you know what they say, breakfast is your most important meal of the day. A good breakfast will give you the energy to push through your morning routine.
LISTEN TO SOME MUSIC
Music can always give you a good boost of energy in the morning.
GET READY
Taking a shower and getting dressed may sound so simple, but it really does make all the difference in your mood. Looking good will then have you feeling good and who doesn't want that?
ENJOY A NICE WARM BEVERAGE
Coffee, please! Yep indulge in a nice warm beverage. Whether coffee, a latte, or some tea, it will absolutely give you a nice boost in the morning, especially for those cold winter mornings.
HAVE A POSITIVE MINDSET
I always give myself a morning pep-talk. "Today will be a great day". "I feel great". "Work will run smoothly". I find it helps to keep a positive mindset when going through life's struggles. We obviously cannot change the world, but we can definitely change the way we perceive it. That alone can have a domino effect and in return can have a great effect on your over all well-being.
REVIEW YOUR PLANNER/TO-DO LIST
I tend to wake up with a thousand thoughts running through my head; all my to-do's for the day, my priorities, appointments, etc. Its a lot to run a household and a family. I have to be everything to everyone. I take a couple minutes to completely my daily planner so all those thoughts racing in my head, can finally allow me to relax.
CREATE DAILY GOALS
Each day I make a point to plan a goal for the day. Although I do not usually get to it but its definitely a great way to get some production done whether with work or home. My daily goal does not always get accomplished but it gives me something to work for that day or look forward to. I've been meaning to put together my vision board since December and its is almost February and my vision board is still not complete. Everyday, until its complete, I will plan it for that day's goal. Its just hard to squeeze in the time to. I will get it done! I promise.
