My Blog Story
It all began in 2015.
I was working a part-time job at Sephora. I thought I really loved makeup and wanted to pursue a career as a makeup artist which prompt me to get a job there in efforts to perfect my artisty.
I was married and a mom of just Amelia at the time. My husband and I were house hunting and having this side job to make extra money on the side seemed ordeal. A lot of the girls there were vloggers and/or youtubers and often shared their experiences in the field. I was intrigued. I had heard of a blog before but had no idea what it actually meant to be a blogger, how to monetize and work with brands. At the time, that was not even really my interest. I really just loved to write and saw this as an opportunity to journal my life as a new mom, a new wife and eventually a 1st time home-buyer. So I launched. I called it “Sincerely, Pamela”.
Sincerely, Pamela was around for about a year; writing about my thoughts, life and experiences. It was cool but I still wanted more out of this blogging experience. I remember having gone to my first blogger event in Brooklyn and was blown away at all I had learned about blogging and how it all works. That was my turning point. I went home and revamped and in due time, I transitioned from Sincerely, Pamela a blog about my life and thoughts to pamelarosario.com in 2016, geared towards the fashionista mommy.
I broght my first fancy camera and started posting looks and creating mommy lifestyle related content. I was in love and wanted to do more! I remember I had just had Aylah so I was adjusting to life as a mommy of two and I created content around that. I did this for about a year. Just creating content, reading other mom blogs, learning to improve my writing and get creative with this thing. I remember wanting more out of this site. I wanted to reach other moms, make a difference, touch lives.
In 2017, I put together a networking event. There was a panel of women from different fields, that shed light on what life is like for these women, in their fields, as mothers, work/life balance, etc. I was inspired to put this event together more so because I wanted to learn more about different fields, different lifestyles. I was struggling with purpose in this season of my life. Here I was, a mother of two, with this blog, stuck in a dead end fulltime job, with no clear direction on where to go. The panel were all entrepreneurs women, some had full time jobs, some did not; others had families. It was a vast variety of lifestyles and challenges and I loved learning and hearing from them all. I loved having done this event and vowed to do more.
Blogging continued. I joined accountability groups to make sure to keep myself on track. I read books on Instagram growth strategies, and marketing ideas. I watched YouTube channels, I worked with a marketing expert, I hired a VA, then hired a Pinterest VA. I would work with different photographers in efforts to level up the content on my page. Trial and error was my teacher, and for the most part, still is.
I made two television appearances on Telemundo’s Accesso Total thanks to a blogger friend I knew. This experience showed me how much I want Television. It showed me that journalism, communication, public relations are fields that resignates with who I am. I started to get a clearer picture of what my purpose on this earth is.
2019 was a tough year. I was trying to get my mentality in check. I knew I was destined for greatness so I had to rearrange my perspective on things. I was challenged, a lot. I felt jealously towards other bloggers. I felt silenced. I felt defeated. I did not think I had what it took to be successful in this line of work and more often than not, I wanted to quit. Blogging was no longer fun for me. I felt burned out.
But one thing I can say now that those days are over is that I am grateful that those days are behind me but thanks to them, I now have the confidence to push forward and keep blogging, even when its hard or unfair. I will push anyway. Those bad days, prepared me for the good days that I have coming up. I am so excited for what God has in store for me and my blog. I can feel it is going to be great. I am still not where I want to be but I know I am close. I feel it. I can vouch that I am no where were I was!
Stay Tuned for what God is about to do in my life and for pamelarosario.com. Its going to be bomb!
You watch!
