Timeless Pieces to Hoard
The most important fashion tip I can possibly give to anyone is the load your wardrobe with timeless pieces. Set a foundation for your closet. With seasons, you can add clothes or items that you like and are trending but always start with those fundamental pieces. Having these basic pieces will save you so much money and no matter what, you will still look great. Shopping for these basic items have to be an investment. It is much better to get quality items that will last longer than to get cheap ones that will only last one wash. These timeless basics, if worth quality, can really last you so long and you will have them hanging in your closet to reuse during any season and trends. Investing in these basics will help your cheaper, trendier clothes look better too.
The follow list of items are for any women, regardless of age, body-shape, and even overall style.
Black Pumps
Black pumps are timeless! You can do so much with just a simple black pump and the length of heel varies for those that are not comfortable walking in heels. Everything is just so much better in heels, your confidence, your stature, your hip sway; it’s all better in heels! If you invest in a good quality pair, Pumps are just overall feminine, and the color black never goes out of style as far as a shoe is concerned.
Dark Jeans
The obvious closet staple! Dark washed jeans can be paired with pretty much any and everything. The style of your jean can vary with comfortability or body shape. I prefer a more high-waist style pant because I am more on the petite side and high-waist gives me a little length; it also hides my gut lol.
You can pair some jeans with flats for a casual lunch with your co-workers or add a black pump (as stated above) for happy hour.
A Button Up
What I love the most about a button up is the versatility about it. It is great for layering under a sweater, which also help in extending your wardrobe. You have to make sure the button up is well-tailored. It can easily look sloppy if it doesn’t fit properly.
Quick Tip: Express has the best buttons up. They fit perfectly and the material is great and they will last you a long time.
A Blazer
Another timeless, effortless and stylish piece! It’s the easiest way to tune up any look. When picking out a blazer, make sure to pick one that suits your body type. Always be sure to try it on and give yourself a hug to ensure you have enough room to breathe.
Quick Tip: when choosing a blazer, make sure it comes down to the hip. Longer blazers can make your legs appear shorter.
White Tee
As you probably already read in my last post, white tees are a must, preferably a V-neck one. It is so easy to dress, all you really need is a scarf and a pair of sunnies and you are good for a day of errands. You can also throw a blazer over it and jeans and your all set for lunch. You cannot go wrong with owning, not just one, but multiple white tees. Like I always say, make sure to try it one before purchasing it. You want to make sure you like the fit. My absolute favorite shop for tee’s is the Gap.
